According to J.P. Grime's C-S-R Triangle (Grime 1977), gradients in disturbance and stress describe three plant life strategies. Based on high and low combinations of stress and disturbance, plants can be categorized into three main strategies: (i) C - competitors, (ii) S - stress tolerators, and (iii) R - ruderals.
